Senior Support Worker - Peldon, Colchester, Essex
Job Introduction
Autism Anglia is a well-established independent charity. We have opportunities available for Senior Support Workers on a full-time basis. Working from Peldon Old Rectory based in Peldon, Colchester
The successful Senior Support Worker will assist people who are within the autistic spectrum. Enabling them to maximize their potential and develop life skills across multiple activities. The successful Senior Support Worker will work as part of a team to help those in your care. Helping them achieve their own life goals, through person-centred planning.
This role is well suited to someone with previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant, or Carer. Caring for Autistic individuals, or those with Learning Disabilities in a healthcare setting.

The role:
- Day-to-day responsibility for the running of the service, ensuring a high standard of delivery.
- Leading staff managers and allocating duties to ensure that all the people we support have their needs fully met
- To actively promote the development of each individual using a holistic approach, which demonstrates, an understanding of their personal, physical, emotional, spiritual and developmental needs.
- Supporting the team leader with rota management and maintaining clear communication
- Encouraging each individual person, we support to be as independent as possible recognising that emotional and practical support may be required
Applications are welcome from Senior Support workers who:
- Ideally you will hold or are working towards your HSC Level 3
- Previous experience working as a Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant or Carer, preferably with Autism or Learning Disabilities
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Ability to identify needs, wishes, and aspirations of individuals who may have communication needs.
- Experience in working with people with Autism and intensive behavioural support.
- Experienced with activity co-ordination, knowledge of opportunities in surrounding areas
- Good range of communication skills
- Experience working within a health and social care environment
